Signs of Life is a bookstore, art gallery, and espresso bar all rolled into a big wonderful place whose purpose is to be a blessing to the community. We opened our doors in March of 2003 with the intent to be a place where people could find good books, not just any old book, but books worth owning, thoughtful books, books that tackle big ideas. And not just books, but fine art too! Our professional sales gallery represents artists who want to present beautiful images - work that grapples with the mystery of life and finds reason for hope.
Once you’ve engaged our books and art, you’ll need a place to sit down and discuss them. Our espresso bar is the perfect place! You can get all your favorite coffee and tea drinks, juices, soda, bakery goods, chocolate (mmmm!), and even kettle corn. It’s a calm and inviting atmosphere - you won’t find friendlier baristi anywhere. And you'll frequently find great live music for free
People often ask “is this a Christian store”? While we understand the intent behind the question, we don't think that's the most helpful label. Instead, we prefer to think in terms of being followers of Jesus who want the store to reflect a Christian worldview. The Bible is our favorite book, so we have a great selection of them for sale. Many of the other books we love are ones that explicitly deal with aspects of the Christian faith. But we also like to ask how Dickens, Dostoyevsky and Dylan can inform our walk with Jesus. So you’ll find classics, literary fiction, books on culture and history, and of course a great selection of art books.
Oh, and did I mention the antique piano? Mustn’t forget that. Our

Below you'll see a random book pulled from the Indiebound Bestseller list. The list is compiled from independent bookstores across America. Not all the booksellers making these recommendations share our worldview, so you may see an occasional book here that Signs of Life doesn't endorse. But you are also likely to find some real gems! Explore. Enjoy.
